Monticello Sages Overcome Slow Start, Top St. Joe-Ogden 44-22

As heard on 95.9 FM WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, after a slow start in the first half, the Monticello Sages turned it on in the second quarter to score 16 straight points and not look back in routing St. Joseph-Ogden 44-22 in Okaw Valley football action Saturday night and remain undefeated. 
 
The Sages trailed 16-8 in the second quarter but used touchdowns passes from Caleb Hanson to Isiah Florey to take a 24-16 lead into the second half.
 
St. Joe pulled within 24-22 in the third quarter but a failed two point conversion kept them from tying the game and Monticello went on to close things out with a 20-0 run capped by a Johnny Dawson interception returned for touchdown.
 
Hanson finished another efficient night going 15-for-20 with 263 yards and four touchdowns through the air. He also ran for a 28 yard score.
 
Nathan Graham had another great game for the Sages, finishing with six receptions for 106 yards and a touchdown. Isiah Florey recorded three receptions, all for touchdowns, and 59 yards.
 
Dawson finished with two interceptions and three receptions for 70 yards. 
 
The Sages return home for Friday night action this week hosting Casey-Westfield.
