Duke is on track to be a consensus choice for No. 1 team in college basketball at the start of the season. The preseason coaches poll was unveiled on Thursday morning and the Blue Devils are atop the rankings followed by Kansas, Villanova, Kentucky and Oregon. All five programs received first-place votes.
Gonzaga, St. Mary's, and Rhode Island received votes in the top-25.
Michigan State and Wisconsin were top ten teams from the Big Ten at ninth and tenth, respectively. Indiana, Purdue and Maryland were among representatives from the Big Ten in the top-25.
