Defense Leads Monticello In Big Quarterfinals Win

The Monticello defense held a high powered Farmington offense in check all afternoon and the offense was good enough to lead the Sages to a 48-14 win over the Farmers in the quarterfinal round of the Class 3A IHSA football playoffs.
 
The Sages defense held the Farmers to 198 yards of total offense and forced five turnovers, all in the first half. 
Caleb Hanson finished 10 for 18 with 215 yards passing and two touchdowns. He also scored once on the ground, accumulating 30 yards on ten rushes.
 
Nathan Graham and Isiah Florey each hauled in three catches, Florey finished with 122 yards and Graham had 55. Each caught a touchdown pass.
 
Farmington quarterback Dylan Hayden finished 12 for 26 with 103 and had two touchdown passes to Eric Higgs. Hayden threw four first half interceptions. 
 
Higgs finished with eight receptions for 96 yards and the two touchdowns. 
 
Farmington ends their season 11-1 while Monticello moves on and is 12-0. 
 
The Sages will host Elmhurst Catholic next week. Game time is yet to be determined.
 
Elmhurst Catholic beat Wilmington Saturday 48-14.
