Maroa-Forsyth, Decatur St. Teresa at State Finals Today

The Decatur St. Teresa Bulldogs and Maroa-Forsyth Trojans will go for state titles today at Champaign's Memorial Stadium.
The Bulldogs will square off at 11 am in the Class 1A final against Forreston. 
 
Bulldogs star sophomore runningback Jacardia Wright scored 43 touchdowns this year, 39 on the ground and ate up 2485 yards.
 
Meanwhile, quarterback Ryan Fyke accounted for 2074 yards through the air with 25 touchdowns to just three interceptions. 
 
Forreston features a prolific run game, with a line that averages 226 pounds up front and four backs with over 600 yards for the season. Led by AJ Christensen and his 1109 yards and 11.1 yards-per-carry, Gavin Fuchs just missed 1000 yards with 989 totals yards on just 84 carries. 
 
Mat Akins ran for 721 yards and Garrett Baortscher accounted for 603 yards.
 
This is St. Ts first trip to the state finals since 1986.
 
For the Trojans of Maroa-Forsyth, they will face off against Dee-Mack from the Heart of Illinois Conference. 
The Trojans feature a balanced offense as they ran for just short of 3-thousand yards and thre for nearly 25-hundred yards. 
 
Quarterback Tyler Ray threw for 32 touchdowns to just 6 picks. 
 
Runningback Jaxon Nelson ran for 1119 yards and 15 scores while Deondre Gregory ran for 772 yards and eight touchdowns. 
 
The Chiefs of Dee-Mack are a very run oriented offense. 
 
Accumulating 4746 yards on the ground this year, senior tailback Jared Reese ran for almost 2-thousand yards this year (1951) with 29 touchdowns. 
 
Tailback Jacob Caricle ran for 850 yards and Preston Lester accounted for 788 yards. 
 
In 89 attempts, quarterback Derek Baker threw for 14 touchdowns to just three interceptions and accounted for 960 yards through the air. 
 
Both teams enter action today at 12-1 overall.
 
This will be the second title game for Dee-Mack, their last title game appearance coming back in 1987 where they fell to Marian Woodstock. 
 
Since 2006 under head coach Josh Jostes, this will the Trojans sixth appearance in the state title game.
