Clinton High School senior Peyton McCubbin was one of 32 shooters to participate in the preliminary round of the 3-point showdown Thursday from the Peoria Civic Center’s Carver Arena in Class 3A.

McCubbin sank nine threes, which was just short of the 11 cutoff.

Steven Ross of North Lawndale Charter, Evan Myers of Mundelein Carmel, Cade Nailor from Rock Falls and Joel Pantoja from LaSalle-Peru will shoot tomorrow night during the Class 3A and 4A State Finals in Peoria.
