Blues, Blackhawks Win

Patrick Kane scored his team-leading 33rd goal in regulation and connected again in the shootout as the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Dallas Stars 3-2 on Thursday night to open an eight-point lead for first place in the Central Division.
Artemi Panarin also scored in the shootout as Chicago rode a 42-save effort by Corey Crawford through overtime to improve to 6-0-1 in its last seven. It was also the Blackhawks' 18th win in their last 22 games. Marian Hossa scored his 24th goal of the season midway through the third period.
 
Crawford was beaten only by Tyler Seguin in the shootout and twice in regulation by Ales Hemsky as he rebounded from giving up four goals on 10 shots to Vancouver on Tuesday night.
 
Dallas' Kari Lehtonen made 24 saves through overtime, following up on a 30-save shutout on Monday against San Jose.

Magnus Paajarvi scored twice to lead the Blues to a 4-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night. St. Louis has won 14 of 20 since Feb. 7 after Paajarvi was recalled from Chicago of the AHL.
Kyle Brodziak and Alex Pietrangelo also scored for the Blues who won their fourth straight to give them nine wins in their last 10. Jake Allen made 27 saves for his seventh win in eight starts while allowing just nine goals in the stretch.
 
Henrik Sedin scored for the Canucks who have lost seven of their last eight to fall to 11-22-3 on the road. Ryan Miller stopped 30 shots.
 
Brodziak snapped an 11 game goal-scoring drought when he roofed a slap shot by Miller late in the second period for his eighth goal of the season to put the Blues up 2-1.
 
St. Louis C Paul Stastny was scratched as he is out week-to-week with a lower body injury.
 
The Blues host Calgary on Saturday.
 
>>Blackhawks Extend F Kero
 
The Chicago Blackhawks have signed utility forward Tanner Kero to a two-year contract extension.
The deal with the 24-year-old, signed by the Blackhawks as a free agent in April 2015, runs through the 2018-19 season. Terms of the deal announced Thursday weren't disclosed.
 
Kero, one of seven rookies to play for Western Conference-leading Chicago this season, has five goals and seven assists in 38 games. He was recalled from Rockford of the AHL on Dec. 22 when he was leading the IceHogs with 20 points on seven goals and 13 asssts.
 
Kero played four seasons at Michigan Tech, located in Houghton, Michigan. and just across the Keewenaw Waterway from his hometown of Hancock.
 
A 2015 Hobey Baker Award nominee, Kero was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's Player of the Year during his senior year when he led the Huskies with with 20 goals and 46 points.
