Lady Sages Power Past LeRoy

In a game heard on WEZC and at dewittdailynews.com, Delaney Hildebrandt's 2-run home run capped a five-run second inning, and the Monticello Lady Sages held off LeRoy 8-3 Monday afternoon from Monticello High School in non-conference girls softball action.

The Lady Sages hit through their order in the second inning and LeRoy committed five errors. Pitcher Marissa Adams surrendered only two earned runs in the inning on just two hits.

The Lady Panthers got two runs back in the top of the third inning but Monticello senior pitcher Leslie Taylor worked in and out of trouble all afternoon as she was instrumental in handing formerly undefeated LeRoy their first loss of the season to drop to 5-1.

Jenny Hinton finished the day 2-for-3 with three runs scored for the Lady Sages and Cameryn Menacher had a two-run double in the fifth inning that extended the Lady Sages lead to 8-3.

With the win the Lady Sages improve to 3-3 on the season.

This afternoon on WEZC and dewittdailynews.com, hear Monticello boys baseball action opposite Blue Ridge from Monticello High School starting at 4:30 pm.
