St. Joseph-Ogden Blanks Monticello in Girls Softball Action

In a game heard on 95.9 FM WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com, Kately Burch’s bases clearing double opened up a 6-0 lead capping a four-run fifth inning for St. Joseph-Ogden and Tori Witruk threw seven shutout innings as the Lady Spartans blanked Monticello 9-0 in Okaw Valley girls softball action Tuesday from Monticello High School.

 

Witruk went the distance in the circle for the Lady Spartans, allowing just five baserunners on four singles, striking out three and walking none.

 

Mackenzie Reedy had a pair of singles and Makayla Reedy and Jenny Hinton added singles as well for the Lady Sages, who drop to 4-4-1 on the season.

 

St. Joe was led by Burch, who tallied four RBI with a pair of doubles. Andrea Coursey added a pair of doubles with three runs scored. Logan Frerichs added a double, drew three walks and scored two runs.

 

Emmy Graver finished 1-for-3 with a pair of runs.

 

The Lady Spartans improve to 9-0 for the year.
