Sullivan Walks Off Clinton in Extra Innings

Jon Gavin's single in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted Sullivan past Clinton 4-3 in Monday Central Illinois Conference baseball action.
 
The Maroons rallied in the top of the seventh inning with two-runs to tie the game at 3 on a Mac Hickman RBI hit and the Maroons would take the lead in the top of the eighth inning but the Redskins got a couple baserunners on with a couple Clinton errors, then a walk and a base hit to set up the game winning hit by Gavin to walk off Clinton.
 
Clinton's Jake Wade and Sullivan's Tommy Schibur locked in a pitchers duel for the afternoon.
 
Schibur went six innings for the Redskins, allowing a run on two hits, issued five walks and struck out four. Queintan Britton was the winning pitcher for Sullivan, tossing two innings, allowing two runs, one earned, four hits and two strikeouts to no walks. 
 
Wade finished seven innings, allowing two runs, one was earned, permitting six hits, two walks and struck out seven.
 
Wesley Conn took the loss, allowing two unearned runs on two hits with a walk. 
 
The Maroons committed five errors. 
 
Hickman finished 1-for-2 with an RBI and Levi Nettles added a double.
 
The Maroons are 5-8 overall and 2-4 in the Central Illinois Conference.
