HS FB: Monticello Dominate Champaign St. Thomas More

The Monticello Sages scored early and often in a 46-0 victory over Champaign St. Thomas More in Friday night Illini Prairie Conference football action from Monticello High School.
 
Doing most of the damage in the first 18 minutes of the game, the Sages jumped the Sabres early thanks to two turnovers on the first three plays from scrimmage and forced five first half turnovers total.
 
Braden Snyder threw four more touchdowns Friday on 8-of-11 passing for 138 yards.
 
He connected on scores to Dylan Thomas, Nathan Harman, Alek Bundy and Devin Graham.
 
Thomas led the Sages receivers with three catches for 32 yards. Graham had two catches for 28 yards while Bundy had his only catch for 39 yards, Harman one catch for 30 yards and Asher Bradd had an 11 yard reception.
 
Senior tailback Lucas Lieb had two scores and finished with 72 yards on seven carries.
 
Sages coach Cully Welter says his team could have had a big letdown coming into the game but did not. The Sabres football program has only 21 players and one senior.
 
 
The Sabres drop to 1-2 overall and are also 1-2 in the Illini Prairie.
 
Monticello is 3-0 and will travel to Rantoul next Friday night for a matchup with the Eagles.
