The Clinton Maroons used a 17-4 second quarter to blow by Windsor-Stew-Stras 56-38 in the championship game of the Cerro Gordo Turkey Tournament.

The Maroons trailed 13-12 heading to the second frame and held Windsor-Stew-Stras to four second quarter points then outscored them 19-9 in the third quarter for a commanding 48-26 advantage after three quarters.

Austin Rauch led the Maroons with 14 points. Dalton Smith tallied 13 and Seth Westfall had 10 for the Maroons who swept the four game tournament and opens their campaign 4-0 overall.

Coach Clay Haurberg said quote - "Big night for our team and our kids. We started a little slow, but settled into our game nicely as the game progressed. They came out with a lot of fire, but we took control by way of limiting their open looks at the rim and really going on the attack in transition. Dalton Smith hit some big shots in the first half to steady us when we were a little off, and we had some great defensive efforts by a bunch of kids, including our bench. Austin Rauch had a great middle two quarters to help spark us to a lead that we never relinquished. We're just extremely thrilled about our guys winning this tournament. They're a tremendous group of young men."

The Maroons are at Tri-Valley tomorrow night.
