Unity Drops Clinton

Unity held the Clinton to a six-point second quarter, stretching a lead at the half to 30-19 and then used a 19-8 third quarter to roll past the Maroons 57-35 in non-conference boys basketball action from Unity High School Saturday night.

JT Wheeler paced three Unity players in double figures with a game hight 18 points. Cale Shonkwiler finished with ten points and Jonathan Decker added 12.

Seth Westfall led the Maroons with 20 points and Clinton shot a dismal 3-for-10 from the foul line.

Coach Clay Haurberg said this one boiled down to rebounding and lack of defensive intensity.

Quote - "We gave up too many second shots tonight. We've got to rebound better as a team. Our defense has been up and down thus far, and tonight we did not have the kind of intensity on defense that is necessary to be successful. Offensively, we were out of sync and turned the ball over too often, especially in middle two periods of the game."

The Maroons are at Rochester Saturday night for a 6:30 pm tipoff.
