Maroons Drop LeRoy

Clinton held LeRoy to single digit outputs in the first two quarters and ran away from the Panthers for a 63-50 non-conference win Tuesday night in boys basketball action at LeRoy.

Austin Baker paced the Maroons with 16 points and Seth Westfall added 13 points. Chase Reynolds also added 11 points as the Maroons were balanced in the scoring column Tuesday night.

Nick Perry led the Panthers with 18 points and Will Dooley chipped in with 10 points.

After the game, head coach of the Maroons, Clay Haurberg said quote - "We got our to a good start in the first half.. We played solid defense and made them take tough shots. We did a really good job of keeping Perry out of his rhythm (4 first half points). Offensively we were getting inside looks and transition baskets which helped us stretch our lead. They (LeRoy) made a really strong run at us in the second half, as Perry got into a groove and we had a few too many turnovers. We were able to maintain our composure and hit our foul shots in the fourth (7 of 8) to come away with the win."

The Maroons improve to 8-3 overall and the Panthers drop to the same record.

The Maroons have a busy weekend as they open Central Illinois Conference play with Shelbyville at Clinton High School Friday then host the Saints of Bloomington Central Catholic Saturday in the New Year's Shootout at Clinton High School.
