Bears Notes

>>Bears Declining Option on Sitton, To Release Freeman

The Chicago Bears are parting with veteran guard Josh Sitton and linebacker Jerrell Freeman.

Two people familiar with the situation say the Bears have decided to decline their option on Sitton for next season and release Freeman.

A four-time Pro Bowl lineman, the 31-year-old Sitton spent the past two seasons in Chicago after an eight-year run with Green Bay.

The 31-year-old Freeman suffered a season-ending pectoral injury in the opener last year and was suspended for violating the league's policy against performance-enhancing drugs in each of his two seasons with the Bears.

>>Bears DB Pleads Guilty in Northeast Iowa Bar Fracas

A Chicago Bears defensive back has pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors stemming from a fracas at a bar in northeast Iowa.

Deiondre' Hall and Green Bay Packers defensive back Makinton Dorleant were arrested March 26 last year outside Sharkey's Funhouse in Cedar Falls.

Court records say Hall entered written pleas Feb. 9 to charges of disorderly conduct and public intoxication. He was sentenced to six months of probation on a deferred judgment. That will allow his conviction to be removed from court records if he successfully completes the terms of his probation.

The records say the Dorleant was given a year of probation and granted a deferred judgment at his sentencing last May on the same charges. The Packers cut him in April after he failed a physical.

Both men played college football in Cedar Falls at Northern Iowa.
