Kentucky Back in Top 25, Virginia Still No. 1

Virginia is the No. 1 team in the Associated Press Top 25 poll for the third consecutive week. The Cavaliers edged out Georgia Tech and Pittsburgh in convincing fashion on the hardwood this week to improve to 18-1 over their last 19 contests, a mark that also helped them wrap up the ACC regular-season title outright on Saturday.

Virginia received 48 of 65 first-place votes, while Michigan State, No. 2 for a third consecutive week and winners of 12 straight, garnered 17.

Xavier moved up one spot to No. 3 this week, flipping places with Villanova, while Duke remained at No. 5.

Making an appearance back in the AP Top 25 this week is Kentucky, which jumped from unranked to No. 23. The Wildcats clinched their third consecutive win on Saturday over Missouri, and snapped their two-week drought of being left out of the rankings.

For the last couple of weeks college basketball had a split No. 1 between the AP Top 25 and the coaches poll. After narrowly edging out Michigan State by a count of 17-to-15 for first-place votes in the new coaches poll and holding the top spot in the CBS Sports Top 25 (and one), Virginia is the consensus No. 1 in the country.

Arizona had the biggest adjustment from last week after a tumultuous week that included the suspension of Allonzo Trier, Sean Miller not coaching the Wildcats in the midst of reports tied to the FBI's investigation into college basketball and an overtime loss at Oregon. The Wildcats fell eight spots, landing at No. 22.

Michigan made the biggest move up with a three-spot jump to No. 13, Texas Tech fell five spots to No. 12 after losing to Kansas and the rest of the rankings were mostly stable as we wind down the regular season in college hoops.
