Big Fourth Inning Sends Mahomet-Seymour Past Clinton

The Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs scored nine runs in the fourth inning, propelling them to a 15-5 ten-run rule win over the Clinton Maroons in their home opener from Clinton High School Wednesday afternoon.
 
Austin Biehl's three-run home run highlighted the nine run outburst, he finished 2-for-4 with another double. Jordan Veldman finished 2-for-4 with a double and a triple with two runs batted in. Lukas Graham went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Tanner Kirts finished 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
 
Mac Hickman started the game for the Maroons. He threw two shutout innings with three strikeouts and allowed a pair of hits.
 
Keaton Thayer took the loss, allowing six runs, three earned, on five hits with a walk and no strikeouts.
 
The Maroons actually jumped out 5-0 in the second inning. Braden Cross' two-run home run highlight the frame. Rustin Wertz added a two RBI hit as well. 
 
The Bulldogs responded with a six-run top of the third inning and put the game away with their nine-run fourth.
 
Mahomet Seymour is 3-0 on the season while Clinton drops to 0-2.
