Monticello Blows By Decatur Eisenhower

The Monticello girls softball squad scored seven straight runs in the second inning, all with two outs, and propelled past Decatur Eisenhower 14-1 in non-conference girls softball action Friday afternoon at Monticello High School.

Lauren Rhoades singled to start the inning. Delaney Hilderbrandt doubled her in, and then after reaching third base, she was out at home after a passed ball was recovered by Eisenhower catcher, Maedlyn Kelm, and she tagged out Hilderbrandt at home. Then Hailey Moore struck out.

Following Moore's strikeout, nine straight hitters reached base with seven scoring. Miranda Fogel had a two-RBI double, Lauren Rhoades doubled in a run and Hilderbrandt doubled home two to finish off the outburst.

All nine Lady Sages batters scored.

Taylor Wunderlich (wonder-lick) pitched three perfect innings and struck out seven.

The Lady Sages are 4-2 on the season. Their scheduled game for Saturday has been canceled due to expected inclement weather.
