Tuscola Rallies Past Clinton

The Tuscola Warriors scored eight unanswered runs to get by the Maroons 10-4 in the Central Illinois Conference opener in boys baseball action Thursday afternoon in a game that was moved from Clinton to Tuscola because of field conditions.
 
The Maroons trailed 2-0 headed to the top of the third inning when Clinton put four runs to take a 4-2 advantage but the Warriors answered with five runs in the bottom half of the inning and tacked on three more in the fourth for the final tally.
 
Jake Wade got the start for the Maroons and went three innings, allowing seven runs, six were earned, six hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
 
Mac Hickman threw an inning of relief, allowing three runs, one earned, with a walk and a strikeout.
 
Noah Pierce pitched five innings of four run ball with six strikeouts and a walk. 
 
Hickman paced the Maroons offense with an RBI double on a pair of hits. Braden Cross drove in a pair for Clinton.
 
Tuscola was led by Braydon Von Lanken's two-run home run in the third inning. Dalton Hoel added an RBI double and Andrew Erickson and Tyler Meinhold each had a pair of hits.
 
Tuscola is 10-2 overall while Clinton is 0-3.
