Monticello Blanks St. Joseph-Ogden, Clinch Share of Illini Prairie Conference Title

Mitch Carr threw a one-hit, five-inning shut out and the Sages jumped out quickly against St. Joseph-Ogden in a 10-0 Illini Prairie Conference boys baseball game Thursday afternoon from Monticello High School and clinched at least a share of the Conference title.

The Sages scored five runs in the bottom of the first then three more in the second inning and added a pair of insurance runs in the fourth as they picked up their 21st victory on a soggy day in Monticello.

Carr struck out just two spartans in his five innings.

Jeff Wileaver and Alek Bundy paced the Sages offense with three hits apiece, and Brock Wade drove in four. Bundy and Luke Stokowski each had a pair of RBIs.

Monticello moves to 21-3 overall and 8-1 in the Illini Prairie.

Their game today against Warrensburg-Latham has been canceled as the Cardinals seek to make up Central Illinois Conference games rained out earlier this year.

The Sages will travel to Urbana Monday afternoon and then host Danville Wednesday.
