Clinton Rallies Past Sullivan

Jake Wade shook off a slow start and the Clinton Maroons rallied past Sullivan for a 7-6 win in Central Illinois Conference boys baseball Tuesday in Sullivan.
 
The Redskins opened things up with a 3-1 advantage before the Maroons used a 3-run fifth inning to go up 4-3, highlighted by Wade's two-run home run. 
 
The Redskins answered in the bottom half of the inning with two runs to retake the 5-4 advantage, but Clinton scored two runs in the top of the sixth for the 6-5 advantage. The Redskins again answered with a run in the bottom of half of the inning to tie things up at 6 and then the Maroons scored a run in the top of the seventh and Wade closed the door for the Maroons.
 
Wade went all seven innings, allowing six runs, 11 hits, issued two walks and struck out 11. 
 
Mac Hickman's lone RBI for the afternoon was the difference in the seventh. Braden Cross led the Maroons offense with four RBIs finishing 3-for-4.
 
With the win, the Maroons are now .500 on the season at 8-8 overall with an 8-4 mark in CIC action.
 
They will host Maroa-Forsyth this afternoon.
