Washington beats Las Vegas 4-3 for Stanley Cup

After 43 seasons the long-suffering Capitals are sitting on top of hockey for the very first time.

Washington took down the Las Vegas Knights 4-3 in game five of the Stanley Cup Finals to win the series 4-1.  It's Alex Ovechkin's first Stanley Cup in 13 seasons as he was awarded the Conn Smythe (SMI-th) Trophy.

Ovechkin and his teammates are Washington's first championship hockey team - and their city's first champion in a major pro sport since the Redskins won the Super Bowl in early 1992.
