Monticello stomps Riverton 53-37

Alek Bundy, Devin Graham, and David Alexander returned to the team, and the Sages go on to win their second game holding Riverton, 53-37.

 

Monticello's defense came out strong and with the help of returning Bundy, Graham and Briggs Fultz after winning the 3A State Football Finals. Alexander also returned after having an injury at the beginning of the season. The team was able to keep Riverton looking for shots as they wouldn't be able to land many as they sat at 16-38 in FG, and 1-11 in 3 pointers. Graham also came out firing away getting on fire for 3 pointers shooting 4-4 and get the lead scoring for Monticello of 17 points. Ben Singleton followed with 11 points and 7 rebounds, and Ryan Reeder with 10 points and 3 rebounds. 

 

Riverton struggled to find the hoop outside as two of their players shot more than four 3 pointers and couldn't get to sink. Travis Hogan led in points with 13, shooting 6-15 in FG, and 0-4 in 3 pointers. Kaleb Rutter followed with 9 points with almost perfect shooting going 4-4 in FG, 1-1 in 3 pointers, and went 0-4 in free throws. 

 

The Sages won their second game, increasing their record to 2-0. Next game will be against Catlin Friday, November 30 at 7:30 pm.

 

Play of the Game: Devin Graham's three-point shot in the first quarter to start the Sages off, as he would shoot 4-4 in three points and lead the team in points with 16 total.
