Monticello falls short, Hilltoppers beat Lady Sages 56-45

Isabella Wade dropped 21 points for the Hilltoppers, and the Lady Sages fell short 56-45 in their basketball game Thursday night. The Sages couldn't find much rhythm early in the game as they shot from the arc many times trying to get points on the board, but Coach Leever and the Hilltoppers zone defense kept the Sages at bay.

Lexi Fisher started for the Sages in Thursday night's game, leading the team in points with 11, and going 5-5 in free throws. Cloe Clark was second in points with 10, and Jayna Burger and Emily Edmundson tied with 7. Monticello was 13-22 in free throws.

Wade led the Hilltoppers in points with 21, where their average leading scorer Sasha Hayes was second with 17. Hayes usually averages around 21 points per game, who quickly made points with Wade off transitions. Savannah Moore was third in points with 11. Hilltoppers were 8-17 in free throws, a little under 50 percent.

Monticello fell to 1-3 with the loss against Mt. Pulaski, as Mt. Pulaski improved to a 4-2. Next game for the Lady Sages is at Urbana on December 6, starting at 7:30 pm. You can catch that game on 95.9 FM WEZC and at dewittdailynews.com.

Play of the Game: Sydney Dowling put the first two buckets up for Monticello both three-pointers, starting to get Monticello into a rhythm.
