Illinois State Blanks UIC

The Illinois State baseball team defeated UIC 4-0 Tuesday afternoon at Duffy Bass Field in Normal.

 

Illinois State used four pitchers in the game to record its second shutout of the season.

 

Joe Aeilts went yard for the Redbirds, finishing 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

John Rave and Gunner Peterson also drove in runs for ISU.

 

Brett Wicklund was terrific for the Redbirds. He finished with six scoreless innings and struck out five, issuing just three hits.

 

The Flames had the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, but Jacob Gilmore struck out the final batter of the game.

 

Illinois State will take on the University of Illinois this weekend in Champaign in a three-game series. First pitch for Friday is scheduled for 4 p.m.
