Maroons Drop St. T in Boys Baseball Action

After jumping out to a 5-0 lead, the Decatur St. Teresa Bulldogs rallied to tie the score but the Clinton Maroons scored the games final eight runs to roll past St. T 13-5 in Central Illinois Conference boys baseball action Tuesday afternoon from Clinton High School.

 

The Bulldogs tied the game at 5 in the top of the fourth but the Maroons rallied for two runs in the bottom of the inning, then added four in the bottom of the fifth and closed out the scoring with two more in the bottom of the sixth.

 

Parker West started for Clinton allowing all five runs, however, they were all unearned. He issued a walk, allowed eight hits and struck out six.

 

Michael Oswald closed the door finishing the final two innings of shutout ball allowing a hit and struck out two.

 

A two-run home run opened the scoring for the Maroons in the second inning. Rustin Wertz added a double and two runs driven in finishing 2-for-3. Logan Peterson tallied two hits as well for the Maroons.

 

The Maroons improve to 4-2 overall and are 2-1 in the Central Illinois Conference.
