Sages Drop Fourth Straight to Olympia

The Olympia Spartans scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning to rally past Monticello 6-5 in a rain shortened Illini Prairie Conference boys baseball game from Monticello High School Thursday afternoon.

 

The Sages allowed a run in the fourth inning but got it back plus three more in a four-run fourth inning as Monticello took a 4-1 lead.

 

The Spartans rallied for a five-run sixth inning for a 6-4 lead and the Sages could only muster a single run in the last of the sixth and fell for the fourth straight game. 

 

Asher Bradd led the Sages with three hits and drove in two, Alek Bundy had a pair of hits. Brett Macak pitched five effective innings in a rain soaked afternoon in Monticello. He struck out seven. 

 

The Sages drop to 4-5 overall and are 0-1 in the Illini Prairie Conference.

 

They'll try to get things turned around this afternoon when they take on Decatur St. Teresa in Decatur this afternoon. First pitch is 4:30 pm and can be heard on 95.9 FM WEZC and online at dewittdailynews.com.
