The Shelbyville Rams scored four runs in the sixth inning and to pull away late from the Clinton Maroons in a 6-2 win in Central Illinois Conference boys baseball action Tuesday afternoon in Shelbyville.
Leading 2-0, the Maroons got a run in the top half of the inning but the wheels fell off for Parker West, who could not finish the sixth inning to end what was a very good afternoon to that point. West allowed all six runs, four were earned on six hits, five walks and nine strikeouts.
The Maroons tacked on a run in the seventh on a Matthew Overton homerun but could not muster anymore. Overton finished 2-for-3 with a double as well.
Braden Cross finished 2-for-2.
The Maroons drop to 4-4 overall and are 2-2 in the CIC. They'll take on Warrensburg-Latham Friday afternoon.
