Miranda Fogal struck out 15 across seven scoreless innings leading Monticello over Urbana in non-conference girls softball action Tuesday afternoon at Monticello High School.
Skyler Frye started the scoring in the first with an RBI single. During a stolen base attempt, Frye was thrown out at second base but the throw to second allowed Lizzie Stiverson to score for the 2-0 early lead.
Addison Wichus started the fifth inning with a triple and scored on an error with two outs for Monticello to extend their lead to 3-0.
Fogal walked and scored on an error in the sixth inning for the Lady Sages to make it 4-0.
Frye finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and Wichus was 1-for-3.
Raevyn Russell went six innings for Urbana allowing four runs, two earned, issuing four walks to seven strikeouts.
The Lady Sages improve to 9-9 overall. Urbana drops to 7-8.
