Paul DeJong hit a tiebreaking, leadoff homer in the eighth inning, Yadier Molina had three hits and two RBIs, and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 Tuesday night.
The Cardinals have won four in a row. The Brewers have lost five of six.
Milwaukee had three solo homers, two by Travis Shaw and another by Orlando Arcia. The Brewers had four solo homers in a 13-5 loss Monday. All Milwaukee's runs in this series have come from home runs.
Molina hit his second double with one out in the eighth, scoring Jose Martinez, who had walked to go with two singles. Molina stole third but was stranded there. It was his first stolen base this season and the 17th time he's stolen third in his career.
Andrew Miller (1-1) struck out two in a perfect eighth to pick up his first win as a Cardinal. Miller's last victory was on Aug. 9 against Minnesota, and the two-time All-Star has a disappointing 6.23 ERA this season.
Jordan Hicks pitched the ninth for his sixth save. Shaw led off the ninth with his second home run. After a walk, Hicks got a strikeout and a double play.
Paul Goldschmidt singled home Matt Carpenter with two outs in the fifth, giving St. Louis a 2-1 lead. Carpenter drew a walk and then stole second, his first this season, to get into scoring position.
St. Louis starter Daniel Ponce de Leon, who was activated before the game, started in place of the injured Michael Wacha. In his season debut, Ponce de Leon pitched five innings, striking out seven and allowing two hits and one run.
Milwaukee starter Zach Davies pitched 4 2/3 innings. He gave up seven hits and two runs.
Jhoulys Chacin (2-2, 5.92) will be making his second start this season against St. Louis.
Adam Wainwright (1-2, 4.74) pitched a season-high seven innings in his last start (April 11) against the Brewers.

Jose Quintana pitched seven crisp innings in his third straight win, and the Chicago Cubs used a fast start to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-2 on Tuesday night.
Willson Contreras hit a three-run double in Chicago's four-run first, and Anthony Rizzo added a two-run drive in the second. Baez reached three times, including a memorable infield single in the second and a solo shot in the seventh.
It was more than enough support for Quintana (3-1), who turned in another gem in the Cubs' sixth win in seven games. The veteran left-hander allowed two runs and four hits while improving to 3-0 with a sparkling 0.86 ERA since he was hit hard in a loss at Milwaukee on April 5.
NL West-leading Los Angeles had won seven of eight. But the Dodgers were unable to recover after Kenta Maeda (3-2) struggled early on.
With one out and runners on second and third in the first, Baez walked on a close full-count pitch that Maeda wanted badly. After Kyle Schwarber struck out swinging, Contreras doubled down the third-base line and Daniel Descalso tacked on an RBI double for a 4-0 lead.
Rizzo went deep with one out in the second, sending an opposite-field drive into the bleachers in left. Baez then hit a bouncer up the line and juked inside to avoid Freese's tag.
The Dodgers wasted a couple of late chances to get back in the game. Pinch-hitter Max Muncy struck out looking on Quintana's 114th pitch, stranding two runners in the seventh. A.J. Pollock struck out and Cody Bellinger grounded out with the bases loaded in the eighth.
Maeda allowed seven hits, struck out five and walked three in four innings.
Dodgers right-hander Walker Buehler (2-0, 5.40 ERA) and Cubs left-hander Cole Hamels (3-0, 2.77) face off Wednesday night. Buehler pitched 6 1/3 innings of three-hit ball in a 3-2 victory over Cincinnati in his previous start. Hamels is going for his fourth consecutive win.

Dwight Smith Jr. hit a three-run homer, one of four long balls off Ivan Nova, and Baltimore overpowered the Chicago White Sox 9-1 Tuesday night to end a four-game skid.
Renato Nunez, Chris Davis and Joey Rickard also connected for the Orioles, who improved their home record to 2-10.
Andrew Cashner (4-1) gave up one run, five hits and a walk over seven innings to win his fourth straight decision. Just as important, he provided much needed rest to a bullpen that was drained in a 12-2 loss to Chicago one night earlier.
Nova (0-3) yielded nine runs over four innings. Obtained in an offseason trade with Pittsburgh, the right-hander has an 8.42 ERA over five starts and has given up 11 hits in each of his last two outings.
Chicago's lone run came on a sixth-inning RBI single by Tim Anderson.
Ervin Santana (0-1, 10.38 ERA) works the series finale Wednesday night. He's seeking his 150th career victory and first with Chicago after signing as a free agent in February.
John Means (2-2, 1.72) plays the role of an opener for the third time this season. He lost his previous two starts despite allowing only a total of two earned runs in eight innings.
