The Sullivan Redskins scored six runs in the fifth inning and that proved to be the difference as a seven-run seventh inning rally fell short for Clinton in a 10-8 loss at Sullivan Monday afternoon in Central Illinois Conference boys baseball action.
Sullivan jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first and their six-run fifth inning opened up a 10-1 lead.
The Maroons seven-run seventh was highlighted by a three-run home run by Braden Cross.
Drew Stacey finished 2-for-3 for the Maroons.
Sullivan's Dalton Rogers went 6 1/3 innings of two-run ball, allowing two hits and struck out eight to no walks.
The Maroons drop to 4-6 in the CIC and are 6-8 overall. Sullivan improves to 7-15 overall and are 5-7 in the CIC.
Clinton is scheduled to take on Warrensburg-Latham today.
