Redbirds Stifled in Series Finale Against Sycamores, 6-1

Illinois State lost the series finale at Duffy Bass Field on Sunday afternoon to Indiana State. 6-1. The Redbirds scored just one run on two hits in the contest. The loss drops the Redbirds to 28-20, 10-5 MVC.

 

The Sycamores scored three runs in the top of the third inning to jump ahead of the Redbirds, 3-0.
Indiana State added two runs to its lead in the top of the fifth inning to make the score, 5-0.
The Redbirds got their only run in the home half of the sixth inning when Parola singled home Aidan Huggins to make the score, 5-1.


The Sycamores extended their lead by one in the top of the eighth inning to conclude the scoring in the game. Indiana State defeated Illinois State, 6-1 to claim first place in the Missouri Valley Conference.

The Redbirds return to action next weekend when the team travels west on Interstate 74 to take on Bradley in a three-game conference series.
