Michael Oswald went the distance Monday afternoon in Clinton as the Maroons rolled past Warrensburg-Latham 7-4 in Central Illinois Conference boys baseball action Monday at Clinton High School.
Oswald allowed two earned runs on eight hits, issuing two walks and struck out eight for his third win.
Oswald also walked twice finishing 1-for-2 at the plate. Rustin Wertz finished 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the second inning and Logan Peterson went deep for a 2-run home run in the fifth inning that gave the Maroons a three run advantage.
Brayden Closs drove in two with a two-run double. Connor Henne finished 3-for-3 for the Cardinals and Brendan Taylor was 2-for-4.
The Cardinals fall to 3-8 in the CIC and 9-13 overall. The Maroons improve to 7-8 overall and are 5-6 in the CIC, moving into third place in the conference.
The Maroons host Meridian this afternoon.
