Paul Kennedy, 80, of Lincoln, passed away Saturday (June 9, 2018) at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.
Paul was born Jan. 9, 1938, in Rushville, son of James Dale and Margaret Jane Haber Kennedy. He married Lauralee Davis in 1976. She preceded him in death on Feb. 12, 2015.
Surviving Paul are his children, Paul William “Bud” (Debra) Johnson Jr., Danvers; Rick Allen (Angie) Johnson, Heyworth; and Greg David (Scott Anderson) Johnson, Encino, Calif.; sister, Susan Gardner; brother, Jim Kennedy; grandchildren, Tera Johnson (Michael) Swartz; Joel, Josh, Jacob, Elizabeth, Caleb and Mariah Johnson; stepgrandchildren, Nicole (Chris) Mochel, Brandon Winkeler, Anthony Manzella, Melissa Tapke; eight great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, wife and siblings, June Yates and Harlan Kennedy.
Paul was a U.S. Army veteran. He and his wife owned and operated Kennedy Budget Counselors, where they did credit counseling and tax preparation. They also enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, Nev., for the winter months and spending time with family.
Service for Paul will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Hartsburg Union Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 263. Memorials may be made in Paul’s name to the Humane Society of Logan County or American Lung Association.
