On 04/01 at 2230, Allissa Kanturek and Dwight Lyman were traveling in the same direction, southbound on US-51 just south of Business 51. Due to the snowy/icy conditions, Kanturek lost control and collided with Lyman’s right front bumper area. Kanturek slid into the western ditch after the collision. Both vehicles sustained damage. Both drivers refused medical attention. Kanturek’s vehicle was towed from the scene by Gary’s Towing Service. Lyman was able to drive away. Kanturek, 20, Carol Stream, was issued a Citation for Failure to Reduce Speed/Accident.
Meontay Wheeler, 19, Bloomington, was issued a Citation and arrested for Driving While License Suspended. Wheeler was released after booking with a Notice to Appear.

On 04/02 at 0736, Faith Borland was traveling northbound on US-51 just south of Business 51. Borland struck Nathan Elliott’s vehicle, which was parked in the median after losing control of the vehicle approximately 15 minutes earlier on the same patch of ice. Elliot was not occupying his vehicle at the time of the collision. Both vehicles sustained significant damage. No injuries or Citations resulted from the accident. Kathy’s collision was summoned to the scene and towed both vehicles.
On 04/02 at 0658, Timothy Wilder was driving eastbound on State Highway 54. Dongni Qiu was stopped in the westbound lane of travel on State Highway 54 preparing to turn left onto Power Road. Qiu proceeded to turn left in front of Wilder without yielding. Wilder swerved attempting to avoid a collision. Qiu collided with the driver’s side of Wilder, causing major damage. Qiu’s vehicle sustained moderate damage. The road surface was covered in ice and snow. There were no injuries sustained in the accident. Qui drove away from the scene and Wilder’s vehicle was towed by Gary’s Towing. Dongni Qui, 23, Urbana, was issued a Citation for Failure to Yield – Turning Left.
Brittany Banser, 29, Bloomington, was arrested on a McLean County Warrant and charged with Contempt of Court. Banser was released to McLean County.
Sara Gubala, 27, Homer Glen, was issued a Citation for Speeding (77mph in a 55mph Zone). Gubala was given a Notice to Appear and released.
Veronica Long, 48, Weldon, was issued a Citation for Speeding (80mph in a 55mph Zone). Long was given a Notice to Appear and released.
