Geraldine Thornhill Cuddeback Logan Wirth, age 69 of Bement, formerly of Champaign and Seymour, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by friends and family on December 25, 2017. After finally losing her battle with cancer, Geri told many people in her last days that she was simply moving on to her last career, that of teaching, and donated her body to science for educational purposes. She had a great sense of humor. Geri served the community most of her life as a Nurse Practitioner, retiring in 2013 from the VA in Decatur. She was a great wife and mother who raised 7 children. Geri held education in high regard and loved learning, reading, podcasts, babies, dolls, quilting, cooking and gardening.
She is survived by her husband William J. (Billy) Wirth of Bement, two sisters; Cathy Thornhill Tufte of Bement, IL., Dixie Thornhill of St. Petersburg, FL., and all her children and grandchildren. Geri never met a stranger. There was always room at the table for a new friend. She strongly believed in family, extended family and forgiveness. Geri is deeply missed.
There will be a celebration of life at the Albert Parker American Legion Post #620 in Bement on Saturday, January 6, 2018, from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with a service at 4:00 P.M. and a light meal at 6:00 P.M., - feel free to bring a dish to share. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Friends of WILL, University of Illinois Foundation, P.O. Box 3429, Champaign, IL. 61826-3429. (217-244-9455)
