Vernon Wayne Wilson, 74 of DeWitt, IL passed away 1:16 PM May 20, 2020 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.

 

Private services will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Jim Kilson officiating due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Burial will follow at DeWitt Cemetery, DeWitt, IL.

 

Memorials may be directed to the Lane Christian Church or Little Galilee Christian Assembly.

 

Vernon was born November 7, 1945 in Russell Springs, KY the son of Avery V. and Alena (McQueary) Wilson. He married Linda White July 1, 1967 in Clinton, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife, Linda Wilson, DeWitt, IL; sons, Daniel Wayne Wilson, DeWitt, IL, and Joseph Alan Wilson, DeWitt, IL; 3 grandchildren:  Kayla Wilson, Farmer City, IL; Gracie Wilson, Hartsburg, IL; and Ryan Wilson, DeWitt, IL.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Vernon retired from the Clinton Power Station in 2000.  He enjoyed fishing and especially loved spending time with his grandkids and watching them play sports.

Carl was born March 11, 1948 in Paris, IL the son of Carl M. “Jack” and Julia K. “Judy” (Zorich) Pine, Sr..

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Jack was an avid Elvis collector. He loved coming back to Illinois in the summers to watch his grandchildren play ball.

George W. Higgins

George W. Higgins, 85, of DeWitt, IL passed away 6:29 PM, May 16, 2020 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

 

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, private family services will be Friday, May 22, 2020 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Jim Kilson officiating.  Burial will be at McCord Cemetery, DeWitt, IL with military honors at a later date.

George was born June 4, 1934 in Decatur, IL the youngest son of William and Sarah (Moore) Higgins.  He married Shirley A. Maiden January 1, 1976 in Monticello, IL. She passed away March 24, 2016.

 

Survivors include his sons: Mike (Carrie) Edwards, Weldon, IL;  Chris (Ah-Yuen) Higgins, Gilbert, AZ, daughters: Vicki Fogerson, Weldon, IL; Lori (Benny) Cole, Heyworth, IL; Tami (Darin) Fowler, Maroa, IL, 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren,  brother, Robert (Bernadine) Higgins, Chestnut, IL, and sister, Joanne Krall, Argenta, IL.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

George graduated from Argenta High School and served in the US Navy, later becoming a member of the Clinton AmVets Post #14.  He worked at General Cable and J.M. Jones.   He enjoyed camping, fishing, tinkering in his shop, tomatoes (especially yellow ones), and coffee hour.  George specially loved his family and his Lane Christian Church family. 

 

George and his loving, ornery wit will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Jerry "Jocko" Winebrinner

Jerry “Jocko” Winebrinner 68, of Clinton, IL, passed away at 7:53 PM May 14, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur, IL.

Jerry was born on February 2, 1952, in Lincoln, IL, the son of Walter and Lillie (Ellison) Winebrinner.

 

Survivors include his children, David (Melisa) Winebrinner, Indianapolis, IN and Toni Winebrinner, Mattoon, IL, 4 grandsons, 2 sisters, Barbara (David) Whitney, Clinton, IL; Kathryn (Brian) Neal, Clinton, IL, and brother, Chriss Winebrinner, OR.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers.

 

Jocko was a member of the Clinton VFW and the Clinton Eagle’s Lodge. He loved to garden.

Mark A. Kent, 64, of Clinton, IL passed away 12:36 PM, May 14, 2020 at his family residence, Clinton, IL.

Mark was born June 30, 1955 in Fort Carson, Colorado the son of William D. “Bill” and Sandra Louise (Rainey) Kent. 

 

Survivors include his brother, Rex (Sandy) Kent, Columbus, IN and sister, Lisa (Rich) Hensey, Chicago, IL; 3 Nieces and 1 Nephew.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents

 

Printing was Mark’s lifelong profession, owning a print shop in Hawaii and for 15 years he worked at AlphaGraphics, Bloomington, Il. He was a Chicago Bears Fan and he enjoyed fishing and Scuba Diving. Mark’s passion was playing his guitar and listening to Blues music.

Georgia Mae Lane Isaac

Georgia Mae Lane Isaac, 73, of Waynesville, passed away at her home on Saturday, May 16, 2020. 

 

Cremation Rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at a later date.

 

Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Waynesville at a later date.

 

Georgia Mae Lane was born on October 1, 1946, in Bloomington, the daughter of Roy and Elsie (Finfrock) Lane. She was united in marriage to David Isaac on November 9, 1968 at the Waynesville United Methodist Church. He survives. 

 

Also surviving are their children: Channen (Rory) Settles and Chad (Trisha) Isaac; grandchildren: Laken (Mariah) Settles, Bre Anna (Aaron Patterson) Settles, Kylee and Tinley Isaac, and Dawson Patterson; three brothers: Bud (Nancy) Lane, Marvin (Babylyn) Organ, and Alan Organ; and two sisters: Nancy (Paul) French and Debbie (Bill) Ballenger; several nieces and nephews and special kids that called her Mae or Grandma. 

 

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; step-fathers: Elmer Organ and Casey Fletcher; and grandson Maddox Isaac.

 

Georgia Mae graduated from the McLean Waynesville High School in 1964. She worked at many jobs: State Farm-Illinois offices, Olympia School District as Librarian and in the cafeteria, the Waynesville Township Library, The Dixie Truckers Home, Bergner's, and Jake's Furniture. She retired as a Home Health provider. 

 

She was a St. Louis Cardinals fan. Georgia enjoyed reading, painting, flower arranging, party and wedding planning, playing cards and trivia, and all her grandkids' activities. 

 

Georgia Mae was a member of the Waynesville United Methodist Church, American Legion Post Auxiliary #1189, Waynesville Women's Club, President of Waynesville Township Board at Library; Old Community Club, Oly Driving Force, and a Girl Scout Leader.

 

Georgia's family appreciates all the blessings that have been shown to her during this last battle with cancer. 

 

Memorials may be made to the Waynesville Fire Department or American Legion Auxiliary Post # 1189.

Patti was born March 20, 1954 in Jamestown, North Dakota the daughter of Howard and Doris (Tripp) Abraham. She married Ron Mills on December 31, 1974 in Wapella, IL.

 

Survivors include her husband Ron Mills, Wapella, IL; children, Trisha (Chad) Isaac, Wapella, IL; Chris Mills, Heyworth, IL; 5 grandchildren Kylee Isaac, Tinley Isaac, Logan Mills, Lexi Mills, and Liam Mills.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Maddox Isaac, and sister Jacqueline Shipp.

 

Patti worked at Eureka, Bloomington, IL, and owned and operated the Irish Circle for 17 years, retiring on May 23, 2018.

Martin was born May 29, 1933 in Mt. Vernon, IL the son of Curtis Fred and Elisa May (Orrick) Austin. He married Eurma Ruth Bray May 29, 1951 in Clinton, IL.  She passed away August 24, 2006.

 

Survivors include his children:  Norma Jean (John, deceased) Clark, Bloomington, IL; Brenda (David, deceased) Griffith, Warrensburg, IL; Beverly (Sonny) Palmer, Clinton, IL; and Danny (Sheila) Austin, DeWitt, IL; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters:  Thelma Norris, Benton, IL; Velma (Red) Perryman, Allisonville, IL; and Evelyn Heath, Paducah, KY.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons, Randy Austin and Rick Austin; 3 brothers: Lloyd Austin, Glen “Bud” Austin, and Charles Austin; twin sister, Duene DeWitt; infant brother, Curtis Eugene Austin, Jr.; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

 

Martin was a member of the Woodlawn Church of God where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and Song Leader.  He retired from Baum Chevrolet and enjoyed carpentry.

Connie was born September 20, 1935 in Bloomington, Il. the daughter of Walter and Lena (Mott) Sprague. She married Robert E. Hantla April 6, 1962 in Petersburg, Il. He passed away December 11, 1993.

 

Survivors include her children, Barbara Wright, The Colony, Texas; and Mark Hantla, Beason, IL; sister, Katie (Jerry) Whitehead, Clinton, IL; 2 grandchildren:  Ashlyn Wright, The Colony TX; and Mason Wright, Lewisville, TX; 1 great-grandchild, Eden Wright, Lewisville, TX.

 

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, brother, William Raymond Sprague - infant son to Lena and Walter.

 

Connie was a member of the First Christian Church, Clinton, IL where she served for many years in the food bank.  She had worked at Clinton Junior High and the Dr. John Warner Hospital in the dietary department for many years.

 

Connie helped so many friends and family as she was a caregiver at heart.  Her laughter, her great sense of humor, and infectious smile will be greatly missed.  She was well taken care of by her son, Mark, sweet friend, Laurie Burk, and niece, Stacy Meyer.

Steven was born October 8, 1957 in Maquoketa, Iowa the son of Edward and Agnes (Grubich) Kinney. He married Cindy Dhooge on May 28, 1977 at St Anne’s Church in Long Grove, Iowa.

 

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Kinney, Kenney, IL; daughter, Melanie Kinney, Clinton, IL, granddaughter, Stephanie Kinney, Marion, LA; siblings Barb (Chuck) Easton, Davenport, IA; Loreen (Ted) Peska, DeWitt, IA; Janet (Ron) Goldensoph, DeWitt, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 brother, Charles Kinney.

 

Steven was of the Catholic Faith. He farmed and was an avid hunter. Steven enjoyed restoring John Deere tractors and loved playing cards, especially Black Jack.

Mike Parrott

Mike Parrott, age 72, of Maroa, IL passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his home on May 1, 2020.

 

Mike was born on October 26, 1947 in Decatur, IL to Charles and Lucille (Brown) Parrott.  He graduated from Mount Zion High School in 1965. 

 

Mike was married to his loving wife Sharon Weikle in 1967, she survives.  They have been married for 53 years.  They have four sons.

 

He is survived by son, Lee (Yoni) Parrott of Romeoville; Chris (Crystal) Parrott of Maroa; Cody (Mallory) Parrott of Maroa;  Justin (Heidi) Parrott of Maroa; eight grandchildren, Kaylie (Austin), Noah, Avery, Colby, Maliyah, Makayle, Veron, and Violet; brothers Bill (Janice) Parrott of Weslaco, Texas and Chester (Pam) Parrott of Windsor, IL.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille (Brown) Parrott; father, Charles Parrott; mother-in-law, Maxine (Campbell) Weikle; father-in-law, Norman Weikle. 

 

Mike retired from K-Mart after 35 years.  He loved spending time with his family, hunting with his boys and friends, Cardinal baseball games, and yearly family trips to Disney.  He recently had taken up golf and looked forward to his time on the greens.  He currently was serving as Worshipful Master of Maroa Masonic Lodge #454.  He lived a very simple life and loved spoiling his grandchildren.

Larry was born February 6, 1944 in Decatur, IL the son of Raymond Udell and Donna Jean (VanCamp) Florey.  He married Donna S. Dearing in 1966 in Decatur, IL.  He later married Pam Parker in 1982 in Clinton, IL.

 

Survivors include his children:  David (Miranda) Florey, Pontiac, IL; Luke (Brandi) Florey, Newton, IL; and Debra (John) Groves, Clinton, IL; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; half-sister, Sandy and half-brother, Sidney

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Charles M. Mills, and half-brother, Gary Florey.

 

Larry was an Operating Engineer for 37 years retiring in 2002. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
