GCMS Looks To Create New Identity

GCMS comes into the new football season the two-time defending Class 2A state champions but they will be defending their titles without some monster talents to fall back on.

Head Coach Mike Allen says this group is eager to leave their own mark on the program.

What has impressed Coach Allen about this year's group is their commitment. He saw kids out playing during the down week before practice. He doesn't push the kids during the summer so they don't get burned out but was pleased with the way they have taken initiative to keep working to get better.

Coach Allen feels he'll have a better feel for where his team is at after their first game. The Falcons open the season hosting Paxton-Buckley-Loda in a non-conference game and then open Heart of Illinois play with conference favorite Eureka at home.
