Monticello Dominates Clinton

The Monticello Sages held the Clinton Maroons to four first-half points and rolled to a 56-18 win in non-conference high school boys basketball action Tuesday night from Monticello High School. 

 

The Sages led 31-4 after the first half, Clinton came out of the intermission to outscore Monticello 13-12 in the third quarter but scored just a single point in the fourth quarter, getting dominated in nearly every facet of the game.

 

The Maroons were outrebounded 34-11 and shot just 23-percent from the floor. The Sages shot 58-percent for the night and dished out 13 assists on 25 field goals made.

 

Additionally, Monticello outscored Clinton in the paint, 34-8. The Sages turned 13 Maroons turnovers into 21 points while the Maroons scored zero points off turnovers and zero points in transition. 

 

The Sages grabbed 13 offensive rebounds for 16 second chance points.

 

Zeke Hickman scored 14 of the Maroons 18 points.

 

Ethan Miller scored a game-high 16 points and had five steals. Briggs Fultz scored 12 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. 

 

Clinton travels to Moqeaqua to take on the No. 2 team in Class 1A, Central A&M for a 7:30 pm tip time. Hear more Maroons basketball action on WHOW next Friday night at Sullivan.
