It was an ugly game but Bismarck-Henning overcame a physical Monticello defense in a 37-25 Regional semifinal game and advance to the Regional final tonight.
The Lady Sages trailed the Lady Blue Devils 13-3 after one-quarter of play and both teams went over eight minutes in the second quarter went without points and Monticello outscored Bismarck-Henning 6-2 for the quarter and got within 15-9 at the break.
Play remained physical in the second half and both teams continued to struggle to score. 2,000 career point scorer Emily Meidel scored 15 of her game-high 19 points in the second half, with 11 coming in the fourth quarter.
Lizzie Stiverson scored 11 points to lead the Lady Sages. Monticello went 7-for-18 from the free-throw line.
The Lady Sages end their season 13-17 overall.
The Lady Blue Devils improve to 28-5 and will take on Tolono Unity for a Regional title tonight at 7 pm.
