A three-run third inning broke the seal on a pitchers duel and IVC got by Monticello 6-2 in Illini Prairie Conference girl’s softball action from Monticello High School Monday afternoon.

Alaina Creamer crushed a two-run double off the fence in left field was all the support sophomore Katie Petran needed for the Lady Grey Ghosts.

Petran threw seven effective innings of two run ball striking out 16 and walking zero batters. She allowed two earned runs on five hits. 

Marley Williamson, Skylar Boze, Creamer and Mandy Moore had three hits apiece as the top of the order did most of the damage for IVC. Williamson scored three runs Creamer and Moore each drove in three runs. 

The Lady Sages were led by Mackenzie Daniels’ RBI base hit. Addison Wallace tripled and scored a run. Hannah Ubinger stole a base for the Monticello.

The Lady Sages fall to 7-7 while IVC improved to 4-7.
