Mt. Pulaski Rallies Past Clinton

In a game heard Wednesday night on WHOW, the Clinton Maroons fell to the Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers 58-49 in pool play at the 11th annual Bill Rucks Holiday Tournament.  

 

Clinton jumped out to a 13-9 lead in the first quarter, and held on for a 28-26 lead at the half.  A big run in the 3rd propelled the Maroons to a 40-32 lead headed into the 4th, but Mt. Pulaski would rally to outscore Clinton 26 to 9 in the final quarter.   The Hilltoppers took the lead for good, 47-46, around the 3:45 mark of the fourth quarter.

 

The Toppers (2-0) were led by senior guard Lane Murphy with 27 points.  Senior Aiden Schneider added 10 points, all in the fourth quarter.  

 

Clinton (0-2) was led by the Serv-Pro of Piatt & DeWitt County Player of the Game - sophomore guard Dawson Graves with 22 points.  Freshman Colton Walker added 11 points, while sophomores Mason Walker & Brooks Cluver added 7 apiece.
