The Clinton Maroons came back from an 0-1 deficit to defeat the Heyworth Hornets 10-5 in the season opener for both teams Wednesday afternoon.

Mason Walker got the win pitching 4 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on no hits while striking out 11 and walking 4. Walker led the Maroons at bat going 3-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Braden Thayer was 3 for 4 with a double.

Brady Wicklander took the loss for Heyworth pitching 3 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits while striking out 2 and giving up 2 walks.

Clinton improves to 1-0 while Heyworth drops to 0-1. The Maroons travel to Lexington Friday to take on the Minutemen.
