Letter to the Editor: Vote for Regan Deering in the IL Republican Primary March 19

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Posted February 26, 2024

If you are planning to vote in the Republican primary for State House District 88, consider casting that vote for Regan Deering. Regan is a family-oriented person, wife and mother of three, who has served as the volunteer Chair of the Decatur Public School Foundation, oversaw the building of a new community food bank, and currently sits on her local school board. She's a former educator and small business owner.

When you meet Regan, you meet the real Regan, not someone who has been in politics for over a decade. Regan is conservative in her approach to issues that plague Illinois and pledges to stand up to the Chicago cabal in the General Assembly that seeks to rule downstate Illinois.

Her opponent in the primary, lawyer Chuck Erikson, has served for 12 years on the McLean County Board and chairs the Land Use Committee. He bears the responsibility, by his voting record, for the proliferation of the ruinous wind energy projects that carpet McLean County and pollute the night sky with flashing red lights. Rural living has been tainted all for a negligible impact on global CO2 emission. He should not be elected to the state house.

Instead of another lawyer, let’s put Regan in the state house to fight for local governance in downstate Illinois.

Pat Ryan
Dewitt County Board Member
Farmer City, IL
