Clinton Board of Education Discusses Revisions on Elementary Building

The Clinton Board of Education held a special meeting Thursday evening to discuss the revisions to the new elementary building.

The revisions in the design come as a result of the community engagement meeting, which was held in August. The biggest change to the revisions shows the gym space cut in half, to one full size court. Craig Welter, the architect of the building explains between the full size gym and the cafeteria, there will still be 3 gym spaces able to be used.

President of the Board of Education Buck Carter feels the new design is closer to where the building should be. He feels the board should focus on having a good solid building that will be around for many years.

Carter feels strongly the school district needs to catch up in the area of technology. He feels the district should leave aside money to allow the district to upgrade their technology.

Other discussions centered around space allowed for the Resource Rooms. School administrators feel the space allowed for those in the revised plans needs to be expanded. The other discussions focused on restrooms near the gymnasium and also office space for the physical education teachers. A decision was made to make room for restrooms closer to the gym and allow for space for PE teachers to have an office.
