Car Seat Inspection Set For Saturday In Clinton

Those visiting the Apple and Pork Festival this weekend with small children have the opportunity to get their car seats checked for free.

The DeWitt/Piatt Bi-County Health Department will be conducting a car seat check in the parking lot of Wal-Mart Saturday morning as a kick off to Child Passenger Safety Week. Dave Remmert is the Public Health Administrator for the Health Department. He notes many times seats are unintentionally installed incorrectly.

According to Remmert, his staff will be on site to inspect car seats free of charge. He says those inspecting the seats have to go through extensive training to be able to check car seats. Remmert has a few basic suggestions for parents with small kids when it comes to car seat safety.

Remmert notes parents buckling their kids in and buckling themselves in will teach their kids to get into the habit of buckling up in the future. He stresses to make sure they know the safest spot for them is in their car seat.
