Illinois Wesleyan Announces 25 New Scholarships

Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington has announced 25 new named scholarships.

Ten were funded by members of Illinois Wesleyan's board of trustees. All of the new scholarships and others named in past years provide financial support to about 200 Wesleyan students.

Named scholarships are typically designated for students with high financial need and who may have a background or circumstances connecting them with a particular benefactor.

Named scholarships are part of the $30 million in annual financial support provided by Illinois Wesleyan. This support helps more than nine in 10 Wesleyan students through a combination of need- and merit-based awards.

The tradition of naming scholarships was first authorized by the board of trustees in 1893 to honor those contributing $1,000 or more.
