Clinton Schools Saving Over $150-Thousand With New Energy Provider

The Clinton School district will be entering into a contract with a company called First Energy for the school's energy needs.

The districts current contract with their energy provider is set to expire. Superintendent of the Clinton School district says their current contract has saved the district money, but they can save even more money with First Energy because they will be buying their energy directly from First Energy, and taking out the third party provider.

Matt McCoy from First Energy explains there are many things that sets them apart from their competitors. One of those being they have various sources for their energy. He says they get energy from wind, nuclear, coal and hydro amongst others. He says they are located all over the midwest and northeast and they keep their client base in those locations. First Energy only distributes energy to their clients.

First Energy will save the district over $150-thousand in the two years they have agreed upon with First Energy. Dr. Holmes explains he first saw the cost savings the district would benefit from, and he says there were no hidden fees or anything. He says the district also has an opt out clause as well if they find they are not satisfied with the service.
