State lawmakers hold a moment of silence for a Pekin soldier, Sergeant Dean Shaffer, who was killed in Afghanistan last week.  Senator Dave Koehler says anyone who sacrifices his or her life for their country, deserves to be recognized.

Shaffer was one of four Army airmen killed in Afghanistan when their chopper crashed last week.  He was a 2007 graduate of Pekin Community High School.  It's the second active duty serviceman killed in service from the Pekin area within six months.  Jordan Best was killed in Afghanistan last October.
