Cubs, Cards, Sox All Win Memorial Day Games

(St. Petersburg, FL)  --  Chris Sale allowed just one run and struck out a career-high 15 batters to guide the White Sox to a 2-1 win over the Rays.  Sale gave up just three hits and walked two over seven-and-a-third innings to improve to 6-and-2 on the season.  Addison Reed tossed a perfect ninth to secure his fifth save.  Adam Dunn hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth for the White Sox, who have won six straight.  Jose Lobaton had an RBI single and Ben Zobrist had two hits and scored the lone run for the Rays, who have dropped two of three overall.  Matt Moore took the loss after giving up Dunn's homer.  He allowed just four hits and struck out a career-high 10 over seven frames in the tough-luck loss.

(Atlanta, GA)  --  Matt Adams finished with three hits and knocked in three runs to help the Cardinals take an 8-2 victory over the Braves.  Daniel Descalso smacked a two-run home run and Rafael Furcal added a solo blast for the Cardinals, who have won two straight on the heels of a three-game slide.  Lance Lynn spun seven strong innings of two-run ball with eight strikeouts to improve to 8-and-1 overall.  Game two of the three-game set features Jake Westbrook on the bump opposite Randall Delgado.

(Chicago, IL)  --  Alfonso Soriano clubbed three hits, including a go-ahead two-run blast in the sixth to help the Cubs down the Padres, 11-7.  Soriano finished with three RBI and scored twice, Ian Stewart and Starlin Castro each added two-run homers and three RBI and Darwin Barney smacked a solo shot for the Cubs, who snapped a 12-game losing streak.  Randy Wells got the win in relief of starter Travis Wood.  Alex Hinshaw absorbed the loss for San Diego after serving up Soriano's two-run blast in the sixth.  Chase Headley homered twice and knocked in three runs for the Padres, who dropped their fourth straight contest.  Carlos Quentin went 1-for-4 with an RBI in his first game with the Padres after missing the first 49 games of the season while recovering from surgery on his right knee.
