Decatur Marathon Still On Despite Heat

Organizers of a triathlon in central Illinois say the race will go on this weekend even if temperatures stay at or near 100.

Gene Mueller is director of the Rodney T. Miller Triathlon. Mueller says the kid races Saturday morning and the adult runs on Sunday morning will go on as planned.

But Mueller warns runners that they need to be working on hydration immediately. He says if they wait they may have problems on race day.

Mueller says the triathlon will have a misting tent and numerous water stations.

The National Weather Service says high temperatures should be near 100 Saturday in central Illinois and near 90 Sunday.
